Our daughter went for her first checkup six months ago, and they made her feel so comfortable she actually likes going. They let me bring her first to watch me get a checkup. Then they sent her a little paperback book with her name and our Dentist's name in it for us to read before she even had her first checkup. It's got characters like Mr. Thirsty and Mr. Windy for the dental equipment, and a page for autographs and stickers.

Besides all the above fun - I've been going to her for five or six years now and am happy with her. She will always try to save the integrity of your teeth before doing any work.
