This was by far one of the best investments I have ever made for my children. We bought the HOP reading package and I was able to teach both my boys how to read simple books at 4 years old. It took us 6 months to complete the level one “yellow box” working on it perhaps 10 or 15 minutes two or three times per week. It was easy and fun. By the end of completing the level one box both my sons were reading 12 page books that included easy phonetic and sight words. They were so proud of themselves and so were we. The standards for kindergarten have really increased over the past few years. Children are expected to be able to read by the end of the year. I believe this program really gave them an excellent head start and an extra boost of confidence going into kindergarten. The program includes workbooks, audio tapes, computer programs, flash cards, reward system and all the reading books. The reading-only package runs about $250.
