I was not impressed with the dry cleaning service.

1. The 4 day turnaround begins from the day Blue Sky picks up the clothing from Elephant Pharm NOT the day you drop the clothing off. (For example: I dropped my clothing off on Tuesday morning. It's Monday night and I'm still waiting...)

2. You must write "dry clean" on the form or the items will be washed in water.

3. You have to figure things out by yourself because the staff isn't very helpful.

Elephant Pharm has a great mix of everyday needs like milk, laundry soap, and shampoo as well as an excellent book section and a very large personal care section. I have found that they often carry things that are hard to find at other stores (like organic cotton swabs, for some reason) and have a wider selection of natural and organic makeup, lotions, etc. than Whole Foods and others.

The folks on the floor have always been very helpful, and they turned me on to a couple of great resources - books that list ingredients in cosmetics and whether they're safe for certain populations. Just ask, and they'll get the book. You can check on any ingredient you like.

Their prices are similar to other places that carry these products. Their sales are great - often 20 or 30% off when an item is on sale. I always check to see what's on sale when I'm in there.

I also take my dry cleaning here, and it's great. They use Blue Sky Cleaners, which is one of the only CO2 cleaners in the Peninsula/South Bay area. After some reading, I learned that the other "green" dry cleaning methods still use chemicals that have been found to be dangerous. It does take a couple of days to get the clothes back, but if you plan ahead, it's fine. They also have a place where you can recycle your wire hangers.

I just saw that they were certified as a Bay Area Green Business - glad to see that!
