Don't forget to check the many different programs and classes run by a local Y; some will be better than others - like the San Mateo Y. I've found Ys are so much more reasonable than the independent classes or the franchises, and always lots of fun. We like San Mateo because they offer a wide range of programs for different aged kids. If you're new to the area it's also a good way to meet other people with kids.
