I have attended Mitty summer school for three years and I love it. The teachers are great and also teach during the regular school year.

I am a student at Archbishop Mitty, and I think that it is a great school. I am involved in a few clubs which do fun things, both on and off campus. There are a large variety of clubs a Mitty, and if you cannot find one, there is always a choice of making one, which is fairly simple to do. Mitty also has a variety of sports that some other private schools do not have, such as badminton team, a competitive dance team, and a diving team, as well as the other main sports (football, volleyball, basketball etc.). Our sports teams are pretty strong, especially the men and women's basketball teams this year. The only thing that I did not like was Mitty's lack of languages. The only two they offered were Spanish and French; I had really wanted to take something like Japanese like some other schools offered, but next year they will be having a Mandarin class, which is a definite step towards more choice in the foreign language category. Although Mitty is a Catholic school, a religion class is mandatory freshman and sophomore year. I actually am not Catholic, but I like how although MItty is Catholic, religion is not pushed on you. The religion class is actually fairy simple and relaxing, teaching not only about Catholicism, but also on how we can improve our lives. There are many ways to get involved at Mitty, and this is something that they stress. Starting my freshman year, and even before that when I shadowed there or had freshman orientation, they showed us many ways to get involved. Mitty stresses on being a close community and everyone there is friendly. The teachers are all very nice and easy to reach, with a building which you can go to for help in classes, and email addresses, so you can email the teacher directly. We also have math labs and science labs, in which teachers are available every period, so you can get help there. I think that Mitty is a great school (I really like it), and I recommend it for anyone who's looking for a good private school.

Archbishop Mitty is a private Catholic high school located in San Jose off Lawrence Expressway and Stevens Creek Blvd. I attended Mitty from 2002-2006.

Faculty / Staff: All of the teachers at Mitty are friendly and helpful. All of the teachers are qualified for their position and do a great job of getting the information across to the students. They show a real concern for the students' learning and take a genuine interest in helping students gain knowledge.

Community: The Mitty community is friendly and they make you feel welcome from the beginning. Parents often get involved in school activities and the school welcomes the involvement. Mitty has many opportunities for you to get involved including many immersion trips to different parts of the world. Mitty requires that you do 25 hours a year as a way for students to get involved with the outside world.

Courses offered: Mitty offers a variety of courses. For the first three years, you do not have much choice in what classes you have to attend. Mity requires that you take English, Math, Science, and a Foreign Language. During senior year, you have more of a choice of different courses. As for AP and honors courses, Mitty has more than its fill. There are many advanced courses that will challenge you if you feel that regular courses are too easy. The only complaint I have about courses is that Mitty only offers two foreign languages: Spanish and French. I wish that Mitty had more languages that I could have learned. However, I have heard that the school will be offering the Chinese language next year.

Sports / Activities: At Mitty, there are sports teams for about every sport including: basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, water polo, swimming, badminton and many others. Mitty has a pretty famous women’s volleyball team. Many great athletes have gone to Mitty such as Mitty alumni and Olympic gold medalist Kari Walsh. As for clubs, Mitty has pretty much every club imaginable. If the club you are looking for is not there, you can always start your own.

Location: Mitty is located in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The neighborhood is clean and safe. John Muir Park, is right across the street and many kids go there to hang out. Near Mitty, there are a few small stores just in case you need to grab a quick breakfastor afternoon snack.

Overall, I feel that Archbishop Mitty is a great school that offers a wonderful education for your children. Being a Mitty alumni, I can personally say that the education I received at Mitty has really helped me even though I did not feel that way during high school. I highly recommend that you send your child to this school.

Mitty's academics, extracurricular's and athletics are the best in Northern California. The teachers are excellent, the campus is sparkling, and leadership is right on track. It's an excellent investment. I have two students there.

My son is a freshman at Mitty and he loves it very much. My son came from a small public school prior to Mitty and we were concerned that he would have a difficult time, but he has adjusted wonderfully and he truly enjoys the caring and Catholic oriented environment.
