Our son is a sophomore and so far things are fine. He loves math and science and the program is very strong in these two areas. The campus is as secure and as safe as any private school in our area. The orchestra is very good and the band great. Communication with parents by faculty is somewhat weak-- parents will have to work at it to really know whether they child is keeping up. Progress reports indicate grade ranges from 'A' through 'F' only to discover that most of the homework in an 'F' class hasn't been turned in, even though it was completed. Typical teen behavior, but in the age of the Internet and e-mail you'd think a quick swipe of a bar code would key in the fact that an assignment was completed (or not) and an e-mail to parents would go out accordingly. Perhaps in the 22nd century?

Our son had a good experience. The drama department is wonderful. Mr. Craig does a great job of motivating the kids and putting on two outstanding performances per year.

Great school great teachers. The science department is excellent. Many teachers are creative and come up with innovative lessons. There are a lot of opportunities for students at this school.

This school has come a long way. Academically, it keeps improving. There is diversity in student body, which reflects the real world. Lots of ap's offered. On the down side, it is a very large school and kids coming from smaller middle schools can have a hard time adjusting to that.

Carlmont High School is a great school that as an exceptionally dedicated staff. The science department is one of the star departments of the school offering AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Human biology and even a biotechnology class. The student body is diverse and students can find themselves in the wrong element if they chose to but this is typical of any school The administration is dedicated and responsive.

I went to Carlmont for four years and am now going to UC San Diego. I took many AP classes and I feel like the school prepared me well. The math department is very strong, but the language department is one of the weakest. Mostly, the school gives what you put in. The kids that do not want to try do not do as well. Also, the school has a bad reputation for fights and so called 'ghetto' people. It was not bad. I never felt threatened. The music and art programs were ok as well. There were more art programs available, I thought, but there were many band classes that you could take. Sports are very successful. Girls soccer, softball, boys water polo, track, cross country, and many others are very good, CCS participating, and many teams hold championship titles. I love carlmont and I feel like it prepared me well. Go Scotts!

I've been going to Carlmont for a while, and I have really enjoyed the experience so far. The AS programs are excellent, and I'm learning lots of things that I wouldn't have known otherwise. The History program focuses on all the world, not just the rich western areas, and the English program has me reading many classics. I love my school very much, and highly recommend it.
