what a great small school for kids to have a great high school experience. Good teachers, a bit lax, but seems to be an all american place

This school may not have the best administrative leadership, but the teachers are very enthusiastic and consistently more than competent. As a student involved in advanced courses, I highly recommend this school for its scholastic opportunities.

HMB High has strong science programs, with outstanding teachers, particularly for advanced students. There is a good selection of AP courses, sufficient to full the application requirements of the most demanding private colleges. To complement the academics, the sports programs are also quite good. The School Loop feedback system works well to communicate with parents and to keep students informed of their assignments.

Two different children; two different sets of interests. One child graduates this year; the second will start as a freshman in 2006. I believe, a solid measure of a high school's success is the college acceptances and this spring, my senior was accepted at Cornell Univ, UCBerkeley, UCLA, UCSD. To get into good schools, students also need to be rounded; HMBHS provides great opportunities for kids to excel in sports, music, the visual arts, theatre, leadership, and academic clubs. Parental activity is very high in the afterschool arena and involvement in the leadership teams continues to grow. The school and the district are committed to continuous improvement and success for every student. To that end, there is a 5 year strategic plan, now in its first year of implementation, on-line courses are available through the University of California, and the principal is committed to finding resources to add classes and opportunities.

I have two children in HMBHS, one is a senior and the other a freshman. They are both very different. The senior has found her passion in music and the performing arts. The freshman is finding enjoyment in shop and social studies. They have both been encouraged to challenge themselves academically. There is such a supportive environment at HMBHS that both are able to feel successful.
