It's wonderful public high school. I highly recommend to those who really want to learn and wish to expand their potentials.

Wondeful school, teachers truly seem to care about the students. Teachers are very helpful and are there when you need their support. Teachers communicate fast with you. The level of the parent envolment is good, especially for stuff like homecoming week and other stuff. The academic support is excellent I give an A+ and everything is perfect and well orgranized.

As a recent graduate of Gunn, I now look back and realize how awesome and fortunate I was to attend that high school. I used to be the student body president and so I got to know the school inside and out. Of course the academics were great but what sticks out most prominentaly is the fact that no other highschool compares to Gunn when it comes to the arts, student activities, and even some sports. I thoroughly enjoyed 95% of my teachers and would love to have them again. You want some criticism? Well the academic pressure can get too high and creates a sometimes unattainable standard. If you can support your child through those endeavors then send them Gunn's way.

Every Gunn student I have known has a lot of pride in their school. The academic courses are rigorous but there are minimal courses in the arts.

The quality of this academically oriented high school is amazing. The con of attending is there is a lot of pressure on children to succeed. Great school district to live in.

A very high quality and quantity of subjects offered including many AP courses. Almost every extracurricular activity is offered that you can think of. Many parents are very involved in school affairs. Great teachers and great students. Competitive among students, but not hostile. Only negative is the facilities look old and dated.

Gunn is an excellent school for academics. The upper-level math and science tracks are particularly rigorous. Many students did not feel that the social studies department, with the exception of the AP offerings, measured up to other departments. Students can also choose from a wide variety of extracurricular activities and athletics. Gunn is well regarded by local and national colleges/universities and will provide students with a solid foundation for undergraduate study.

I think the main reason for Gunn being rated so highly is that the students are very high functioning, self directed, and with parents who have very high expectations of their kids. This is a direct result of the Palo Alto demographic - very well educated parents who are also self directed. I don't feel that the quality of teaching is far superior to other schools. Unfortunately, because of the financial crisis, some of the non-academic programs are suffering. Some of the teachers are really extraordinarily dedicated - many are average but have 'tenure'. Teachers and administrators here are very highly paid compared with their fellows in education. Parent involvement is pretty good.

Really amazing afterschool activities and a wide range of classes. It's very overcrowded though.

The best part about this school is its wide range of classes and great afterschool activities.
