I think Hillsdale is a terrific high school. My son has had a wonderful experience there. The Small Learning Communities are a very good concept, and help with a student's transition into high school. The teachers are extremely dedicated and very proactive when they think there is an issue. Again, because of small learning communities, the teachers really know their students, so they can be proactive. The activities are good; my son is involved in several clubs, band and sports. I highly recommend Hillsdale.

Congratulations to Hillsdale on recently hearing that it is one of the few schools to be awarded the status of a California Distinguished School! Such an award, along with the incredible growth in API scores and student achievement, are a testiment to the community of Hillsdale High School and its students.

My daughter is a freshman and loves Hillsdale. The SLC is great. She gets tons of attention from her teachers and is thriving. The teachers in her house are so enthusiastic she never comes home saying school was boring. She is involved in many activites and although she is not an athlete she enjoys supporting them. Hillsdale has tons of spirit. Great school!

Great school for my son. The SLCs, especially the Advisory program, have made a big difference in my son's success. Teachers truly care. He was always a good student, but since attending Hillsdale he's a 4.0 and involved in tons of extra activities. He's grown academically and socially. Can't wait for my daughter to start next fall!

What they are doing here at Hillsdale is remarkable. The SLC program in particular is a great benefit to my son.

This is a great school. My son is in special education classes. He was in a private school for three years. He is really doing wonderful in this school. His teacher/counselor is the best we have ever had. The teachers really seem to understand the children. The coaches for sports are wonderful. The Best Buddies program really works. It is a joy for us to see our son so happy. Thank you Hillsdale.

Seem to have a sound system of small learning communities and a good working relationship with Stanford. Both are pluses!

This is a Very decent High School but the campus is not too beautiful. You will benefit from being involved in your students life and class options/choices.

As a teacher at Hillsdale High School I found that HHS is more concerned with public perception than it is about quality academics. More energy is put into getting media coverage for the school than supporting classroom teachers. I'm a true supporter of small schools and small learning communities but more importantly you need good teachers and quality leadership; two things that HHS lacks. Small learning communities (SLCs) hide mediocre teachers well, which there are many at HHS, and don't give credit to good teachers. As a teacher at HHS, I find the leadership team lacks direction and the ability to inspire teachers. It seems HHS has issues with retaining good, quality teachers and for this reason it will never be a 'great' school.

The music and theatre programs are excellent. Some coaches could use a tip or two on how to use the players to their fullest potential. Swimming and track coaches are good.

The lack of diversity in classes makes this school rather unappealing. However, there are some excellent teachers.
