From my experience, Lynbrook is an amazing school. The environment inspires my daughter to do her best. Their Speech and Debate team as, well as their FBLA program are also remarkable. The amount of parent involvement is moderate because all the students are so self-sufficient that there is really no need to check over things as a parent. The teachers are also very involved. In general, if your child has the opportunity to attend Lynbrook, don't hesitate to enroll them!

Lynbrook is a high-achieving school with a stellar academic reputation. This does not mean, however, that curriculum is dictated by standardized testing. Faculty are generally happy at Lynbrook, and it shows in the quality of instruction. Teachers aren't afraid to bring creativity into their classrooms. The students also tend to be very involved in their school. One of the great student programs is Link Crew, which involves upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) helping freshman acclimate to the rigors of high school. There art department (including music) and foreign language department are both strong. The school just has an overall positive atmosphere.

Lynbrook HS is a very competitive school. Students compete a lot to get the best grades. Many teachers are wonderful and try to also make the learning a fun experience. They are very supportive. The counselors are very nice as well trying to find you a career to one day follow and take appropriate classes for that. I do recommend LHS to new freshmen.

Lynbrook is a great school. My son was a senior last year and I was very pleased with the career guidance the school career office provides. The administration staff is very pleasant and helpful. The school staff goes beyond their duty to help students in their college application process. There is some inequality amongst the teachers of the same subject. They push students to the extreme in a way that the students do not get enough time to focus on other subjects. The teachers need to understand this. Otherwise academically speaking, the quality of education is very good and teachers are very pleasant to talk to. Overall, a great school.

This is the perfect high school size, not too big not too small. Students are overall responsible and attentive. The biggest drawback, as with all great schools, is too much competition. It should not just be about taking the most AP classes, getting into the best UC, but about what you have actually learned to make you a better person.....

Academics are very strong here, especially in math and science. Extracurriculars focus on future career interests- business, speech and debate. Parental involvement is moderate, given the general demographic of the area.

Great school. Excellent academic programs and extra curricular activities. Sometimes students only get 6 instead of 7 courses.

There are so many overachievers at Lynbrook, the teachers don't invest time in the average student.

The school has great academic programs and if the student requires higher level of classes, they will provide guidance to students to attend local junior college. The Administrators at the school are extremely helpful and they give several presentation to inform parents and students throughout their high school years of the choices in College, Junior College, Career schools and what it takes to get there. Lynbrook has one of the best music/band department that I know of. They have about 200 students and it's like a secondary family for the children. The older students give guidance to the younger ones. My daughter was in band and she had made friends with older and younger students alike. They also have great art classes. All kids are encouraged to participate in one or more sports program offered by schools. They have sports programs offered throughout the academic year. Parents are very much involved.

After reading all of the stellar comments about Lynbrook, I cannot believe that my daughter attends the same school. While it has high marks on academics, it has totally abandoned all of the students in the middle, as well as the education of the "whole child." In fact, there is no focus on athletics or sports at all in this school; just compare the football team to what it used to be, to what it is now. The teachers are so overwhelmed, they have no time in their day to help those who need assistance. In fact, unless you are at the top of the academic echelon, or at the bottom, the administration won't give you much attention either. Not sure whatever happend to the "No Child Left Behind" at this school.
