The academic programs are weak. I don't know why they bring back teachers who retired years ago. I'm thinking of one in particular who was nasty when I went there and is still yelling at students. Can you imagine what it feels like to be taught to read by a sarcastic teacher who yells at you.? My cousin is supposed to go here in the fall. I'm warning my aunt to check out who she gets as teachers. It's too bad the principal won't get rid of teachers who are past it.

First of all, I believe that a student's honest opinion on a school who also understands what they're saying maybe the most important review on its quality and performance. I currently go to Westmoor High School and although I'm only a freshman and may not have an exact idea of how well Westmoor functions, I can provide my opinion on how well the school does its job. There are some teachers you know you'll remember for their outstanding teaching and there are some teachers that aren't distinguished as anyone would hope. There a couple teachers whose role is to only get you to graduate. But, overall this school isn't a dead end or a pathway guranteed to guide you toward a bright future. It's just a great school aimed at giving determined students the necessary education that they want and should recieve.

My siblings and I attended Westmoor from 1996 to 2006. All of us have either graduated, or are currently attending UC Berkeley. I have many friends that have attended Westmoor within the past 7 years who attend(ed) elite schools UCLA, Stanford, West Point and Yale, just to name a few. Westmoor s academics have improved tremendously since I was there their AP courses are incredible and the teachers are inimitable. Although the campus may be cloaked within what many may perceive as an underachieving Jefferson High School District, Westmoor, itself, is definitely a gem. It allows those that apply themselves and believe in it to reap the benefits and thrive thereafter. From doctors to attorneys, Westmoor is the foundation that has helped many of us to strive in our careers. I hope that soon, many of us will start to give back and perpetuate Westmoor s new found Lowell-like stature

My son loves Westmore and is very involved in their music programs. The principal, Mr. Morosi has availed himself to me by giving me his phone number and whenever I have an issue, I can call him to discuss it. The classes seem appropriately difficult and geared towards the student going to college. When the Western region accreditation committee came to check the school, they said that out of the last 70 schools they had been to, we had the highest parent turn out and that they all would be happy to send any of their kids to Westmoor. My only wish is that there were a football team but my kid is so busy with track, music, and leadership, as well as his classes, I don't think he could fit it into his schedule anyway!

I have a daughter that is a junior at Westmoor. I find that the academics here are much more competitive versus other High schools in the other neighborhood districts. I believe that education is the primary and having outstanding teachers educate these teenagers these days are very, very important for their development and their next stage in life. I will continue to share my opinions and concerns in the near future. But I close with by thanking GreatSchools.net for giving me the opportunity to share my opinions with all of you. Mr. H. Wong

Good academic school... But limited infrastructure for sports and other activities
