The spa has a new owner, who is going to make the place a full spa experience with a new addition of hair salon, the level of quality & professionalism is yet to be seen. There seems to be a high employee turnover rate at nail salon. The tips are up to the clients, but 15 % tip seems to be the call of the day.

FYI: Their current mani/pedicure person has worked there for 2 months and another new one is coming in next week, 11/5/07. The weekly combo special of $50 will run till a new brochure comes out in the near future.

Thermae is a well-kept secret. I live around the corner from this small and elegant day spa. It is not pretentious and it is always empty and has a private feel. The manicure/pedicure room is relaxing and most importantly extremely sanitary. They do not use those chairs with the recirculating water pipes that have caused many health problems. Highly recommended.

I went to Thermae based on the review here (especially about not using those gross throne chairs). It was fantastic. There is a wonderful soft chair to sit in, and it even has room for your purse/magazine/book next to you. You soak your feet in a royal looking shallow bowl and you feel like a queen. Manicure is equally "healthy." Cuticles are pushed back and trimmed only a tiny bit where necessary. Much better for your nails in the long run than cutting the cuticles off. I haven't had any other services here, but plan to explore the facials and massages. By the way, they are having a summer special on manicure/pedicure combo, so check it out.
