I think that this is a really wonderful school. I especially love the music program and the music teacher Randy Tyler. I love all the sports they teach in P.E. and the amount of effort the teachers put in to help the children pass.

I think that the school is being to strict. As an experienced teacher and mother I think that bending the rules can give the kids a chance to express themselves and therefore do better at school and socially. Let them have free dress days more than just on dance days. Relax the rules a bit. Sure there still has to be a strong hold on the students, but reigning with love not fear can show the students the better side to education. Thank you for letting me express my opinion.

Bernal Intermediate is a great society of students and teachers. The writing academical structure is one of there top sources. There commission endures precise, establishment as well as the students never get to slide by any of the rules . Though they recognize how to influence their pupils, I give faith that there disciplines are remote in and too strict . Finally the teachers at Bernal, do not teach. They drill to the California State Test.

Excellent school. Organized and competent administration. High standards onto its student. I went there, as did my children. Highly recommended.

I have had 2 sons complete the 7th and 8th grade at Bernal in 3 years. We had just moved here from Texas. The principal Ginny Maiwald is the Best. The staff helped my sons settle in to what was an uncomfortable situation after moving for them and made them fill at home. There were some issues with teachers just as there would be regardless if you attended a public or private school. Overall, the teachers genuinely care about the childrens knowledge, but they also care about their emotional and social growth which is just as important. I would recommend Bernal to any parent who asks. I feel both of my sons are prepared to enter high school.

I had two students attend this school. One was a very good student and the other was not such a good student. I found that academically the school is acceptable, especially compared to other area CA public schools, but when it comes to providing a welcoming environment where students feel 'liked' and 'want' to go to school each day when they wake up in the morning, this school is grossly lacking. The majority of the staff, there are a few exceptions, are short and curt with students, and are generally unfriendly. My students, as they put it, really felt like the teachers hate their jobs and take it out on the students Fortunately, one of my students has graduated from the school, but her zeal for school that she used to have certainly decreased with one year at Bernal.

High academic standards, especially in the honor classes. Offers high school level Algebra and Geometry. Very useful elective classes in CPR and homemaking (e.g. cooking; also computer classes offered. Most teachers post progress reports daily or weekly in the class room. A lot of teachers try to prepare the students not just for high school but for college.
