I am grading the Jr. High of school. Having a 9 rating is not accurate for the entire school. For K-6 the 9 would be fair. 7th & 8th Grade rating should be about a 3. The older grades seem to run their own show. They do not have much supervision outside the classroom (lunch/recess).

We love Charter School. It has given back opportunities that have been taken out of other public schools that we have attended, and offered others that we never had, such as Agricultural Science, and Spanish. The quality I think we appreciate most is the fact that parents are truly involved in the school. I would recommend this school to anyone that believes that their children deserve more than your average cookie-cutter public school.

Charter School is a project based education public school, grades K-8. Educational quality would be rated in general a B- Emphasis is on respecting one-self and others and making a positive contribution. Good after school music program and girls sports.

CSMH has been a wonderful change for my son. Our family has attended private school for 12 yrs. and we have been pleasantly surprised by this public charter school. This school offers my son Spanish, Agriculture Science, and P.E. 3 times a wk. Opportunities my son did not have in private school. The younger grades have music, art, etc. programs that have been cut in our old school. This school is a project based learning school, which has been a good match for my son. The work and projects he is required to do are what I consider life applicable rather than 'busy work'. I am excited that my daughter will enter kindergarten in Sept. and begin a wonderful school experience.

So far we have really liked the school, especially the enrichment programs. The facility, however, is another story. It is very rundown and old. Hopefully, the school will move to another location. First grade teachers are the best!

Lower grades are fantastic. Upper grades (7-8) seem to think kids are in college with more maturity than should be expected at this age. High parent involvement expectations, which is good, but often too pushy, making parents uncomfortable.

This is an amazing school. The teachers are bright, enthusiastic and dedicated and the programs offered are just amazing, especially for a public school. Spanish is taught at every grade - every day at the middle school level. The agricultural science program is just extraordinary - an orchard, a school farm, a chicken coop, all maintained by the students. Separate teachers for art and music and 2 full time P.E. teachers. Also, the project based learning aspect of the curriculum and the degree to which the students are involved in shaping their own learning is wonderful. I can't recommend Charter highly enough.

My son is in kindergarten at the Charter School. The focus on project-based learning has been ideal for him. I am really pleased with the teachers, their style and interaction with the kids, the amount of outside involvement and enrichment opportunities.

My child has been at The Charter School for three years now, and up until this year all has been fine. With the change in the Administration (mainly new Principal) this year, I question the direction that the school is going. There are some incredible teachers and extremely devoted parents involved in numerous ways. My opinion is the Principal is just not the right fit.
