I started working with Julie because I had all of these clothes in my closet, and I wasn't really happy with 80% of them. I've never been big into shopping or fashion, but I know when I look OK and when I look great. I wanted to look great, even fabulous, more often!
So, Julie did my colors and gave me a color fan with the colors that are best for my skin, eyes, and hair for various situations - power outfits, more subdued outfits, and undergarmets.
Once we had figured out what colors made me look great, we tackled my closet. At the end, I had only clothes and shoes that looked great on me and a large bunch to donate to Career Closet.
So, now for the shopping. Shopping with Julie is how shopping should be - a (big!) dressing room full of clothes that are good candidates, and someone helping you decide whether each piece is right. Often, she'll make an appointment with one of the salespeople at the store so they're on call to get different sizes/colors. It's power shopping at it's best.
It hit me while we were in the dressing room trying on several black business suits - I can go into a store and find a jacket or a pair of pants that fit. But, with Julie, we were able to find the clothes that made me look fabulous. Try on 5 different suit jackets or pairs of pants, and you'll see that they all hang a little differently and fit a little differently. With Julie, I was able to pick the ones that really made me look great - not just that fit and made me look OK.
Julie knows all of the stores around here (shoes and clothing), so you don't have to hunt around for the places that carry the kinds of clothes you're looking for - a big time saver right off the bat.
After shopping with Julie one day, I stayed and shopped in a couple of stores by myself. After 3+ hours, I had a few shirts, no one helping me with different sizes or colors, and no one deciding with me about how great something really was. That was when I REALLY appreciated the service that Julie provides. In the time I had gotten a few shirts, Julie and I had gotten nearly a complete wardrobe.
Now, I have a closet full of clothes I love, that will wear well, and that will look great on me for several seasons. I'm sending my husband to Julie when he goes to buy suits in the fall!

I'll start by admitting: I'm not a shopper. I love the idea of having clothes that look great on me and that are up-to-date, but I get discouraged very quickly when shopping by myself or with friends, and even more quickly when shopping with my husband!
Working with Julie Kaufman was the answer to my problem!! First she found out what colors looked good on me (doing a terrific color analysis) and I was pretty shocked to find out that my long-time favorite colors were just about the worst colors possible for me to wear. At first I had my doubts, but now, after receiving so many compliments on clothes that are my "new" colors, and so few for my old colors, I am a convert!
Also, the amount of time to shop and find something great has been compressed tremendously, and I had always hated the time I had to devote to finding something worthwhile. Julie does lots of work beforehand, visiting several stores she thinks will have the right kinds of things, and then she sets aside a variety of clothes for me to try on. And one of the best aspects of working with Julie is that she is 100% honest about the things you try on. If they aren't right for you, she tells you so. That is so refreshing, and so helpful.
The bottom line is that Julie helps you save hours and hours of time, and you end up with fabulous clothes that are not only stylish, but are perfect for you. I continually get compliments on the clothes that Julie helped me find, even years later!
