My twins have been at Milestones for 2 years now. The teachers are wonderful--caring, educated, energetic, engaged. The school setting is great--nice indoor space and nice outdoor space, comfortable with thoughtfully chosen furniture and equipment.
The teachers always have fun and interesting activities for the kids and seem to work on incorporating themes into all the day's activities. I especially like that they don't push kids into academics, but follow the kid's lead, and respect the personality of each child.
I initially choose Milestones b/c of their work with kids with various disabilities/developmental delays. I had a few concerns about my son, who was just getting evaluated. I figured having teachers with solid education and experience in dealing with these issues would help ensure that any issues would get observed & raised and my son would get the best care. As it turns out, my son is just slightly behind in speech and physical development. However, I still appreciate that special-ed background--I think special-ed teachers have some extra skills and have really demonstrated interest in teaching kids.
The negatives--b/c of the kids with allergies, no cheese or nuts in lunches, which is a minor irritation. The drive from Los Altos is getting old, but it's still worth it!

Milestones has been a wonderful preschool for my son for the past two years. It caught my attention when I was searching for dairy and nut free programs for my very allergic son. Finding a dairy free program is practically unheard of. Most preschools or daycares serve milk which could be dangerous to my child if it was spilled on him or if he drank it. The other factors which makes it an outstanding school in my mind is the teacher-child ratio. There are often 4 or 5+ teachers in a classroom with 17 or so students. The teachers are very caring and nurturing. Another special aspect is the classes aren't "churn and burn." There is only one class for the each level so the teachers can focus on presenting a particular lesson once...which I think makes it "fresh". Lastly, I love that each child has his/her own journal for the teachers to write a short note about or put photos from class occasionally.
This is a fantastic school to consider!

This is a great school where kids of all different backgrounds and abilities play and learn together. Children are engaged in fun, meaningful and age appropriate activities, supervised by a competent and compassionate staff.
Our kids love going there, and we have been so very impress and pleased with the program.
