Shiva's has both vegetarian and meat dishes, so they will appeal to everyone as long as they like Indian food.
Their vegetarian dishes are excellent. I had one of their garbanzo bean dishes at dinner, and the spicing was a cut above most other Indian restaurants - absolutely delicious. I've also had a couple of other vegetarian dishes on their lunch buffet and liked them as well. The only vegetarian item I'm not crazy about is their cheese in the palak paneer. It's a little too dense for me. But the spinach in the palak paneer dish was really good.
I've also had several chicken dishes - all excellent, especially their butter chicken and chicken tikka masala.

I was disappointed with a buffet that I had there on a Sunday afternoon. The food was not outstanding and the choices were not my favorite dishes. The staff were inattentive and slow with drinks and the bill.

I've eaten at 5 Indian restaurants in Mountain View and Palo Alto, and this is my favorite by far. The chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and chickpea entree, and raita are fantastic. Everything just has that little bit of something that takes it from good to great - the right mix of spices, the right amount of cumin in the raita, everything. The only thing I haven't been impressed with is the paneer cheese - a little too dense for me.
They also have a lunch buffet that is $12 - well worth the price for the great selection.
