This is a really informative web site that tells you in plain English what features to look for in order to determine whether your house is a good place for solar. I learned that light (or "bright") fog still provides plenty of ambient light to make solar worthwhile. With the moderate climate and average of over 300 sunny days per year, I'm happy to see that solar works in many places in the Bay Area.
If you want to do a solar evaluation on your home, they have a program where you can request a visit and quote from a group of pre-evaluated companies.
They have lots of great links to other solar resources. A really fun link is to a map of San Francisco showing locations where people are already using solar - lots and lots of pinpoints!
It's a great resource, whether you're new to solar or are already familiar with solar but want to know more.

I came across this site yesterday while researching solar electricity for our home. This is a fantastic resource if you are looking into solar. They gathered a lot of useful and accessible information on things to look for like costs and consumption metrics, legislation and government rebates. Highly recommended!!
