My kids loved being on the ranch, being with the horses and the general mystique and excitement of all that. But, the riding portion was only 30 mins out of the 4 hour camp - lunch was late for certain riding groups, and they had no snack time just drink break. they did 'horse art' for a big portion while waiting for other groups to finish with their riding segment in the one covered ring. The drive to SD is also lengthy unless you're in that town. That said, my kids both loved it!! They wanted to stay another two weeks! They learned a lot about tacking up and down, riding, posting, 2-point, and learned about relating to, respecting and understanding horses (personalities, psychology) and also about cleaning up and feeding them. There was no signing in or out, but lack-luster pre-teens and teens just note them on a sheet when they come/go. A lot of waiting and kids hanging out in my opinion. Kids love(d) it though - and we will likely do it again next summer despite my misgivings.
