My 2nd grade daughter attended one week of Stanford All Sports Camp. Although she wasn't thrilled after the first day by the end of the week she was enjoying herself. My daughter liked her counselors, she made some new friends, and I liked the fact that she was tired out at the end of each day. There were a few things about this camp that I wish I would have know ahead of time. First, this is not really an "all sports" camp. Basketball and soccer were the main activities the week my daughter went. After lunch she went swimming and did arts and crafts each day. Contrary to the camp website, there was no tennis, yoga, taekwondo the week that my daughter attended (the reason given was that other camps were using those facilities). The other thing I wish I would have known was that there was a trip to a Giants game on Wednesday which took almost the entire camp day (the kids took Caltrain to San Francisco). In support of the Camp Directors, they allowed some kids (who prefer to participate sports than watch them) to stay on campus that day and participate in regular activities. Finally, I was surprised that the Friday afternoon activity was a karaoke/fantasy band competition.

Never a dull minute! Kids are always busy learning about all sports that exist from very enthusiastic counselors (Stanford Students) They have field trips every week ranging from Exploratorium to Giants games!

The camp is advertised as if it is a sports taster camp, but it is not that at all. My daughter got to play an hour of soccer, an hour of basketball and an hour of tennis (the only sport she had never tried before). The track and field morning didn't happen. Swimming in the Roble Gym's pool was marred by the fact that the pool is in a horrible condition - after the first day, my 3rd grader said she didn't want to go in again. The camp counsellors seemed more interested in chatting with each other than the kids, and they did not require a signature or ID to check the kids out of camp. My daughter hated this camp on the first day, but was persuaded to stay. She played a lot of tag games and found that pretty dull. We will not do this camp again, even though it is very convenient for me as I work on the Stanford campus.
