I've been going to Yoga of Los Altos for a couple years now. However, I've been practicing yoga for about 10 years. I find that Yoga of Los Altos is great with price, quality of teaching (it can be very deep if you are open to it and serious about it), and has a good variety of classes for beginners and advance students. In case you have injuries, are a beginner, or just new to the studio, all teachers always give alternatives for the asanas. There are also yoga mats you can borrow and all other props that might be needed for the class are there for you already! They have a changing area as well and they even have water (free and to purchase)!
Ideas to keep in mind when attending yoga:
1) Learn to BREATHE!
2) It's not a competition or race. Everyone has a different range of motion. (I was near a high school gymnast the other day! It made sense that she could do the splits!) :)
3) Yoga is a journey dealing with the body, mind, and spirit. If you're patient enough, you will learn things about yourself you never knew!
4) Every teacher has something to teach you (only if you let them).
Namaste!

I just started yoga at this studio as a complete beginner. I found the people there quite helpful. I have been to 4 classes so far, and all of the instructors were welcoming for beginners. They have a beginner class on Saturdays that is a good place to start. I also tried some level 1/2 classes and all were good. You have to try different instructors and see who you like. My favorite so far is Tom Abrehamson. I like Jeff Lang a lot as well. I didn't like Ben Thomas's style quite as much. I found him a bit hard for beginners, and he didn't always show the easier way of doing certain moves, like the other instructors did. Maybe I'll try him again after I have been doing it for a few months.
Also, most of the instructors seem to work at multiple yoga studios in the area. So if you like a certain instructor, you can check out the schedules at the studios in Palo Alto/Mountain View to find more of their classes.
The only downside at Yoga of Los Altos is that some of the popular classes are quite crowded. So it's good to get there 10 minutes before the class starts so you don't end up in a spot squeezed into the corner.
Also, they do have a great deal $25 for 3 classes for new students.
