Monthly parking in Philadelphia, PA

If you live in the Philadelphia area, you know that construction, traffic, and the high population of the city of Brotherly Love can make it difficult to find a parking spot. If you happen to violate any of Philly’s parking regulations, you can end up with parking tickets, a towed car, and other major hassles. (We’ve all underestimated the amount of time we needed on a parking meter or misread a no-parking sign–and we’ve all paid the price).

If you are looking for a long-term parking spot near Center City or the surrounding areas of Philly, you are in the right place. This list of monthly parking spaces will help you put the struggles of daily parking behind you.

This private garage in Upper North Philadelphia can be used for monthly parking or even self-storage (storing personal items like boxes, furniture, etc.). The owner of the garage assures renters that the neighborhood is safe–but for an extra layer of protection, the garage is lockable.  With this option, you can find peace of mind, knowing your vehicle or sentimental items are protected. Should you opt to lock the garage, you’ll still be able to access your car or items 24/7. (Note: The host is the only other person who will have a key to the garage space).

If you want to pay less than street parking rates and don’t want to find parking each day after work, this could be a good option to consider.

If you need a larger parking lot space (for a bulkier vehicle like a truck, large SUV, or delivery van), then you’ll want to reserve a spot in this lot in Upper North Philadelphia. The entire lot is 13,000 square feet, and there are both paved and unpaved spots to choose from.

Note that it’s an uncovered lot, and some sections are gravel (so consider this before parking your 2WD vehicle or vehicle with low ground clearance). Truth be told, this space isn’t recommended for antique or specialty cars due to the risk of gravel wedging in specialty tires or scratching specialty paint jobs.

However, security cameras monitor the area at all times. This is a bigger lot, so the owner can accommodate a variety of cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans.

Where Can You Park In Philadelphia?

Traditionally, there have been three main types of parking available in Philadelphia: on-street parking, parking kiosks, and longer-term parking garages. If you are on the hunt for free overnight spaces, you’ll probably be out of luck (unless you rent through a peer-to-peer marketplace like Neighbor).

Fortunately, Philadelphia has thousands of metered spots throughout the city that are monitored by the Philadelphia Parking Authority. If you can find one, you are lucky, but you’ll pay a higher hourly rate than you do for monthly parking.

Note that parking kiosks have replaced coin-operated meters, so you won’t have to worry about bringing enough dimes to park for a few hours.

But which option is best if you don’t have a residential parking permit? Here at Neighbor, we recommend private residential garages and private driveways. Neighbor has the lowest Philadelphia parking rates, and you won’t have to pay per hour.

In Philadelphia, monthly parking spaces are typically legal in designated parking lots, garages, and some residential areas with a parking permit. Parking free without this permit is not an option. These spaces are rented monthly and designed to provide drivers with a dedicated spot for their vehicles.

Whatever monthly parking type you choose in Philadelphia, make sure it complies with local parking regulations and any permit requirements for residential areas. Neighbor is the most secure option for legal monthly parking in Philadelphia. You’ll have a variety of options at a variety of price points.
