"Manan was very friendly and easy to work with. The parking space was easy to get in and out of. My boat trailer is about 30' long and pretty wide with the axle pretty far back from the tongue so I was initially a little concerned about how it would fit, but it fit well, is a good location and no problems with access. I would still be using the space if I needed it. No issues, I am happy, thank you Manan."

"This was my first time using Neighbor and I would absolutely reserve with Markeita again in the future if I need parking. The space is safe and monitored and she is very friendly. My car was parked for about two months and is exactly as I left it. I also appreciated the quick jump after my car had been sitting so long I accidentally used up my battery while stalling in the parking spot."

Types of Boat Storage

Storing your boat or other watercraft outdoors can be a great option, as Seattle and other cities offer plenty of outdoor storage solutions. You may also want to consider indoor, outdoor, and covered boat storage solutions.

  • Indoor storage: Indoor storage solutions, such as private garages, provide added protection from the elements, such as rain and wind.
  • Outdoor storage: Outdoor storage solutions, such as parking lots, maximize convenience as your boat can be quickly and easily accessed when needed.
  • Covered storage: Covered storage solutions, such as carports, can provide the right balance between indoor and outdoor storage, providing protection from the elements while keeping your boat easily accessible.

Choosing Boat Storage

When considering outdoor boat and watercraft storage in Seattle, Washington, there are several important factors to consider.

  • Accessibility: Make sure the location of the storage unit is conveniently located and has access to the road. If a trailer is needed, check if the storage unit is near a road large enough to accommodate it.
  • Space: The storage unit should be large enough to fit the boat, its trailer if needed, and allow for some space to move around the area.
  • Security: It is important to choose a storage unit with good security features such as a lock, lighting and fencing.
  • Weather Protection: Look for a storage unit that provides some protection from the weather, with enough coverage from the elements to keep the boat safe.
  • Environment: It is important to select a storage unit that is away from possible pollution sources such as landfills, chemicals or gas stations.

Climate Considerations

When looking to rent outdoor boat storage in Seattle, the climate and weather conditions should be taken into consideration. Seattle's peak summer temperatures range from an average high of 75°F (24°C) to an average low of 55°F (13°C). Winters in Seattle are typically mild, with an average high of 47°F (8°C) and an average low of 37°F (3°C). Outdoor storage offers protection from the elements and is a good option for storing watercraft throughout the year. However, it is important to take steps to further protect your boat, such as using protective covers and removing all excess moisture. Additionally, depending on the size of your watercraft, it is important to choose an appropriate storage location to ensure its safety and security.

Ourcomprehensive list of available Neighbor outdoor boat storage spaces in Seattle is a great place to start.

As a rule of thumb, a 5x5 will fit one piece of furniture or several boxes, a 5x10 will fit the contents of a 1-bedroom apartment, a 10x10 will fit the contents of a small home, a 10x15 will fit the contents of a 2-3 bedroom home, a 10x20 will fit the contents of a 4 bedroom home, and a 20x20 will fit a lot more.

Motorcycles and other small vehicles generally require a 5x10 storage space while most cars and trucks will fit within a 10x20. For larger trailers, RVs, and other vehicles you will likely need to pull out the measuring tape as they can require anywhere from 10x40 to 20x60 spaces.

We recommend climate controlled storage for most electronics, collectibles, personal items (books, clothing, and photos), and sensitive materials (glass, leather, and metal).

If you live in a dry climate, climate control isn't as much of a concern, though you should still consider temperature's effect on your items.

If you expect freezing temperatures during the period that you plan to store your vehicle, you should definitely consider winterizing your vehicle before storing to prevent unecessary harm to your vehicle.
