Yes! Neighbor lists top-rated storage facilities, #1 parking operators, and vetted local hosts, with over 600,000 customer reviews. Every Neighbor host is ID-verified and backed by up to $1M in liability coverage. For extra protection, renters can also opt into a Property Protection Plan at checkout. While renters aren’t required to obtain an insurance policy before booking, we highly recommend adding on a Property Protection Plan for added peace of mind. We also encourage renters to use their best judgment when booking and visiting a space. Read reviews, check host ratings, and look for spaces that are gated, security camera-monitored, and located in lower-crime Kensington neighborhoods. In Kensington, 43 locations are monitored by security cameras.

Monthly rates will depend on the size of the space, the amenities offered (e.g., EV charging, trickle charging, assigned parking, security camera monitoring, on-site staff, gated entry), and the level of coverage: outdoor, covered, or fully enclosed/indoor. Car storage near Kensington starts at $40, with prices averaging around $70. On Neighbor, you never have to worry about expensive long-term contracts or hidden fees. Filter spaces in Kensington by clicking on the “Price” tab at the top of the page and toggling the bar to your desired price maximum. Currently, 31 locations in Kensington are eligible for a discount. Price increases are rare, but you will be given advanced notice if your host decides to increase their monthly rate.

That will depend on the length, width, and height of your vehicle! A standard parking space is about 9’x20’. If your car fits comfortably in a standard parking space, keep these dimensions in mind, especially if you plan to rent a storage unit or a residential parking space (e.g., a driveway, an unpaved lot, or a residential garage).

For oversized fleet vehicles, such as delivery vans, look for spaces that are at least 10’x30’. (Note: certain height restrictions may prevent you from parking your oversized vehicles in a parking garage or storage unit)

For insight into the space size recommended for your specific vehicle type, consult Neighbor’s Storage Unit Size Guide. To filter spaces by size, use Neighbor’s advanced length and width filters.

Yes! Neighbor offers flexible, month-to-month contracts, perfect for business travelers, extended vacationers, military personnel on deployment, college students on break, and home renovators. No matter your situation, rest assured that your rented space is yours for the entire month. Come and go as needed, knowing that you have a guaranteed space available at your convenience. Note: Since billing is processed monthly, payments will not be prorated if the renter vacates the space before the end of the monthly rental period.

On Neighbor, payment is hassle-free! Just create a Neighbor account and connect your preferred payment method (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards are all accepted). Once you select a space and submit a reservation request, a preauthorization hold will be placed on the funds in your account until the reservation is approved. Once approved, your card will automatically be charged at the time of approval. Thereafter, you’ll be charged on the first day of each successive monthly rental period. Most reservations are renewed on the same day each month (E.g., if a reservation started on the fifth day of the month, you’ll be charged on the fifth day of each successive month). Once you’ve removed your items and cancelled online, automatic payments will stop.

When you find the right space, click "Reserve space" to submit your request. You'll be prompted to enter what you're storing, a preferred start date, and your payment information.

Hosts have 24 hours to respond to your request. If you rent an instant-book space, your reservation will automatically be approved. Otherwise, you’ll be notified via email, SMS, and push notifications (if you have the Neighbor app) when a host responds to your pending request. Currently, 22 locations in Kensington are instant-book.

Yes! To make sure you get the space you want, we recommend submitting a reservation request ASAP. However, we understand that sometimes you need a few more details before you’re ready to place a reservation. In that case, reach out to your host via Neighbor Messages — a safe, secure platform designed specifically for hosts and renters to communicate.

Best practices depend on the time of year and the city you’re storing your car in! If temperatures dip below freezing where you live, check out: Winterizing your car and Preparing your car for winter storage.

Regardless of the weather/time of year, it’s recommended that you change your oil, fill up your gas tank, and connect your car to a trickle charger before storing your vehicle. If the fuel in your gas tank is expected to sit unused for more than 30 days, we also recommend investing in a fuel stabilizer. As a last step, you’ll need to find the perfect long-term storage space for your car. With Neighbor, finding the right space is easy. Read real reviews, compare your options, and book online in minutes. It’s storage and parking, made simple.

Once your reservation is approved, you’ll receive all the details needed for a successful move-in via email, including the exact listing address. Note that some commercial locations will automatically display the listing address prior to approval.

From there, all that’s left to do is to schedule a move-in time. You can refer to your host’s move-in calendar (if available) or reach out to the host at your convenience via Neighbor’s in-platform messaging system: Neighbor Messages. Here, you can set a date and time that works for your schedule.

Many Neighbor hosts grant renters 24/7 access–the ultimate convenience for vehicle owners who need to catch an early-morning or late-night flight. To view an individual host’s access policy, click on the desired listing and scroll down to the “Access” section.

If you rent a space in a parking garage or parking lot with an access control system, your host will issue you a key code or key fob. That way, you can come and go at your convenience.

Our hosts are known for going above and beyond for their renters. If you need to pick up or drop off your vehicle at a specific time of day (or at the last minute), most hosts will be willing to accommodate these requests.
