"Terrific, helpful staff. I was their first Neighbor customer, and they were very attentive through the entire process. The facility is clean and new. Safety cameras and high fencing/ 24-hour gate. I am storing a RV trailer in their parking lot and have visited several times to clean and organize the RV; the experience always feels safe and peaceful. Bonus: there is a car wash facility close by so I can get the car cleaned whenever I visit!"

Types of RV storage

If you're a proud owner of an RV, travel trailer, or motorhome in Hackettstown, New Jersey, you may be considering renting storage space to keep your mobile home safe, secure, and well-maintained. The following are the three main types of storage options that you might consider:

  • Outdoor RV storage: This is a popular and readily available option in Hackettstown. It involves parking your RV, travel trailer, or camper on a recreational vehicle pad or in a driveway. This type of open-air storage provides easy access to your vehicle and can handle RVs of any size, including large fifth wheels. The downside is that your RV will be exposed to the elements, but a good cover can offer some protection against weather damage.
  • Indoor RV storage: These are essentially large garages, barns, or warehouses that can accommodate RVs and motorhomes. Indoor storage gives your RV the highest level of protection against the elements and potential theft. It's the perfect option if your RV is a significant investment and you want to keep it in the best possible condition. The downside is that these spaces can be more challenging to find in Hackettstown and may come at a higher cost.
  • Covered RV storage: This is a middle-ground option between indoor and outdoor storage. Covered storage typically involves a canopy or roof structure, protecting your camper or motorhome from direct sunlight and precipitation. This option can provide more protection than outdoor storage but is less expensive than indoor storage. It's a solid choice when thinking about maintaining the exterior of your vehicle in Hackettstown's variable weather conditions.

Remember, each of these storage options comes with its own set of benefits and potential drawbacks. The best storage option for your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome will depend on the vehicle's size, your budget, and your personal preference for how much protection you think your mobile home needs.

Choosing the best RV storage

Choosing the perfect storage location for your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome isn't a decision to be taken lightly. Considerations such as size, access, and location must all be carefully weighed to ensure your vehicle is stored properly and you can access it conveniently.

  • Location Matters: Consider how close the storage space is to your home. If you plan to use your RV regularly, you'll want a location that's a short drive away. Evaluating the safety of the neighborhood is also crucial. It will give you peace of mind knowing your vehicle is in a secure area.
  • Accessibility is Key: If you love spontaneous trips, you will want to choose a storage space with flexible access hours. Make sure you can easily reach your motorhome or camper when you need it. Consider the accessibility of the space itself. Is it easy to maneuver in and out? Is it a flat or sloped surface? These factors can affect the ease with which you can park and remove your vehicle.
  • Size Requirements: The dimensions of the storage space should match the size of your RV or travel trailer. Measure your vehicle's length, width, and height to ensure you select a space that can comfortably accommodate it. Factor in additional space if you need to store related equipment, such as portable grills, camping gear, or spare tires.

Climate considerations

Selecting the right storage for your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome in Hackettstown, New Jersey, is affected by the city's weather patterns. During peak summer, Hackettstown experiences average high temperatures of about 84°F. To protect your vehicle from the heat and sun damage, consider an indoor storage unit. It will provide adequate shade and insulation from harsh temperatures. Coming to the winter months, the city witnesses an average low of around 19°F. The low temperatures coupled with potential snowfall could potentially harm your vehicle. Again, indoor storage emerges as a significant solution, offering protection from freezing temperatures and snow. Furthermore, irrespective of the season, using a high-quality protective cover for your vehicle is recommended. It will shield your RV from dust, bird droppings, and other elements, ensuring it remains in tip-top condition year-round.
