30 x 20 Unpaved Lot in Villa Rica, Georgia

"Excellent storage area and host. Brad was available every time I had to pick-up and drop-off my trailer and was quick to respond to messages. The location is far enough from the main road to be safe and secluded while not being a burden to get to, and there are two locked gates between the road and the lot. Brad was nice enough to mow the grass where I was putting my trailer and allowed me to bring some pavers to keep the tires out of the dirt. Would highly recommend this space as there is a lot of room even for a very large trailer/RV/camper."

Types of RV storage

Renting outdoor storage in Rome, Georgia, for your RV can be a practical and convenient solution for keeping your camper, travel trailer, or motorhome safe and secure when not in use. This is an excellent option for individuals who lack the necessary space at home or prefer a dedicated spot for their recreational vehicle.

There are three primary categories of storage options you may consider: outdoor, covered, and indoor.

  • Outdoor RV storage: This is the most common type of storage option. It involves parking your RV in an open residential or commercial area, like a driveway, parking lot, or backyard. Outdoor storage provides easy access and plenty of space for any size of RV, from pop-up campers to large motorhomes. It also enables natural ventilation, which helps prevent moisture buildup that could lead to mold or mildew.
  • Covered RV storage: This option involves a roofed structure designed to shield your RV from the elements. Examples include carports or large canopies in residential or commercial properties. Covered storage offers additional protection compared to outdoor storage, shielding your travel trailer from sun, rain, and snow, which can help maintain the exterior condition of your RV.
  • Indoor RV storage: As the most secure and protective type of storage, indoor RV storage can be found in large garages, barns, or warehouses. Units of this type offer complete protection from the weather and potential vandals. For those with luxury or vintage RVs, indoor storage may be an ideal choice as it provides a higher level of security, minimizing the risk of environmental damage and wear and tear.

Remember, the best storage option for your RV in Rome, Georgia, will depend on your specific needs and the type of camper, travel trailer, or motorhome you own. You've invested time and money into your RV. Keep it safe, secure, and ready for your next adventure by choosing the right storage space for it.

Choosing outdoor RV storage

In an endeavor to select the perfect outdoor storage location for your RV in Rome, Georgia, it's crucial to consider the size of the storage space, accessibility to the unit, and location of the facility.

  • Consider the Dimensions of the Space: The size of your motorhome, travel trailer or camper will impose the required storage space. Therefore, ensure you accurately measure your RV, factoring in the width, length and height. Additionally, consider extra space for walkways and placement of other items like bicycles or grills that usually accompany your camping trip.
  • Accessibility Matters: Check the operational hours of your prospective storage location. Access to the storage unit at convenient times is essential, especially if you frequently venture on spontaneous road trips. Look for locations that offer 24-hour access, allowing you to retrieve or park your RV at any time. For users with large fifth wheels or motorhomes, evaluate the ease of entrance and exit, ensuring the facility can accommodate large vehicle movements.
  • Evaluate the Location: Assess the proximity of the storage unit to your home in Rome, Georgia. While closer options may offer convenience, a slightly distant but safer location may be worth the consideration. Inspect the area for its security features, as well as the neighborhood's safety record. Remember, the ultimate goal is to find a place where your RV will be safe and easily accessible whenever you need it.

Climate considerations

With outdoor storage in Rome, Georgia, it's essential to keep in mind the climate changes throughout the year. The city sees an average high of 90°F in the peak of the summer and an average low of 33°F in the heart of winter. These fluctuations can impact the condition of your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome.

To protect your vehicle during hot summers, consider using a quality RV cover to shield the exterior from UV rays and the interior from heat.

In winter, insulated skirting around the base of your camper can prevent plumbing from freezing. Also, investing in a cover that can withstand snow and ice accumulation is crucial. Regular checks throughout winter will ensure your vehicle remains in optimal condition.

Remember, consistent care, even in a residential storage space, is key to the longevity of any recreational vehicle.
