"Angie was very accommodating as we needed to pick up our car earlier than expected, on short notice. Garage access is via an alley behind the home. Upon arriving at the address it was unclear where the garage was located; a relative on site let us know about the alley. The space was fine and we appreciated using our own padlock to secure the doors. Overall we were very pleased with this storage facility."

Types of Storage

Renting a storage unit offers a variety of benefits, from reduced clutter and easier organization to cheaper, more accessible storage.

  • Drive-up units allow for easy loading and unloading of items, while interior units provide increased protection from the elements.
  • Interior units without climate control may be the most cost effective options for those looking for a basic solution.
  • Interior units with climate control provide the added benefit of temperature and humidity control, making them ideal for moisture-sensitive items.
  • Outdoor parking is an economical choice for storing large, non-perishable items.
  • Specialty storage units provide customized storage solutions and may be used for items with specific requirements or needs.

Choosing a Storage Unit

When looking for a storage unit in Baltimore, MD, it is important to consider a few key factors:

  • Size and Accessibility: Consider the size of the storage unit you need and the type of access you will need to the unit (e.g., does the space have a driveway, a walk-up entrance, or a elevator).
  • Climate Control: Check to see if the storage unit has climate control to protect your items from extreme temperatures.
  • Security Features: Look for storage units with features like locked gates, alarm systems, or on-site staff to keep your items safe.
  • Price: Research the prices of different storage units near you and compare them to ensure you're getting the best deal.
  • Location: Choose a storage unit that is close to you to make it easy to access your items when you need to.

Climate Considerations

When looking to rent a storage unit in Baltimore, it is important to understand the climate and weather of the area. Baltimore experiences a mix of warm temperatures and mild precipitation during summer months. Average high temperatures during the summer peak at 85°F, while average low temperatures during peak winter months drop to 22°F. These temperatures can be beneficial to those looking to store certain items such as furniture or other household items that don't require climate control. On the other hand, those looking to store sensitive items such as books or documents should consider a climate-controlled storage unit due to their temperature and humidity control.

Non-climate-controlled storage can be a more affordable option for those looking to store items that don't require climate control. To protect these items, be sure to store them in airtight boxes or containers. Taking the time to properly clean and secure these items will ensure they stay in the same condition as when they were stored. Additionally, it is important to pay attention to the facility's security policies and ensure they are up to your standards.

By understanding the climate and weather of Baltimore as well as the specific items being stored, you can make an informed decision on whether climate-controlled or non-climate-controlled storage is the right fit.
