"We had a wonderful experience storing our car and trailer at Brett’s. He was very responsive and hospitable. We weren’t familiar with the neighbor app but found it online and saw good reviews with Brett. We trailered our boat to Maine to cruise around Casco Bay and Midcoast and it was helpful and reasonable to store with Brett. Thanks so much Brett!"

85 x 20 Driveway in Falmouth, Maine

"Daniel was amazing! We bought a full sized school bus to renovate into a tiny home before discovering that conventional storage places refuse to store them as they are "eye sores" sight unseen and in good condition! We were incredibly grateful to find Neighbor and Daniel who was able to watch our bus for us over the winter while we searched for a more permanent place for us to work on our permanent home. Unfortunately the night I arrived it was raining and I ended up slightly off the roundabout gravel driveway I was aiming for onto more squishy dirt than I should have been while making my corner alone in the dark which ended up leaving a couple tire impressions on the yard that I felt absolutely horrible about but Daniel again was amazing about everything! We needed a place to go afterwards and when our family fell through Daniel came to our rescue again with a contact who had a contact and now our bus has a permanent home where we can work on it too! The entire experience was just amazing and we would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat if we needed storage!"

Types of RV storage

Considering options for storing your RV in Lewiston, Maine? Whether you're the proud owner of a travel trailer, a cozy motorhome, or a nifty pop-up camper, you'll find that renting storage can be a practical solution to keep your vehicle safe and in top shape.

  • Outdoor RV Storage: This might involve an open lot or a residential driveway. With this option, your RV enjoys easy access while you benefit from a relatively lower cost. Given Lewiston's cold and snowy winters, investing in a quality RV cover would be crucial with this option.
  • Covered RV Storage: Your camper or fifth wheel, for instance, could be parked under a carport or awning. This provides some level of protection from the elements, and can be a great compromise between cost and care. A covered space might be part of a larger residential property, reducing the exposure of your RV to direct sunshine during Lewiston's summer months, as well as providing some shelter in winter.
  • Indoor RV Storage: This could be in a residential garage, a large barn, or a commercial warehouse. Though these locations may be rarer and pricier, the benefits are substantial. Your travel trailer would be completely shielded from Maine's harsh weather—be it heatwaves, rainstorms, or blizzards—resulting in less maintenance and greater longevity for your vehicle.

Each option provides its unique mix of considerations, but they all make it possible for you to safely store your RV in Lewiston, ready for the next adventure.

Choosing the best RV storage

Choosing the ideal storage location in Lewiston, Maine for your motorhome, travel trailer or pop-up camper involves several key considerations. You should take into account the size of the storage space, the access provided, and the location of the storage facility in relation to your needs.

Considering Size: To avoid the risk of damaging your vehicle, it's important to ensure the storage space is well-suited to your RV's dimensions. Consider not just your RV's length and width, but also its height, especially for taller motorhomes or fifth wheels. Don't forget to factor in space for any protruding elements like mirrors or hitches. Additional storage space might also be beneficial for storing extra gear or travel items.

Accessibility Matters: Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or an extended tour, easy access to your camper is essential. Be mindful of the storage facility's hours of operation - some locations may offer round-the-clock access, while others have set hours. The layout of the property also plays a part in accessibility, with wide driveways and turning spaces being a plus for larger RVs.

Location is Key: Look for a storage place that fits your travel patterns. If you frequently hit the road, a facility on the outskirts of Lewiston might make sense for quick getaways. If you use your RV less frequently, a more central location might be convenient for regular maintenance checks. Safety is another crucial factor to consider in terms of location. Ensure the facility is in a well-lit, secure area to provide peace of mind while your RV is stored.

Remember, the right storage solution for your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome should suit your unique needs and preferences. Don't rush the decision, take your time to research and ensure you choose the best option for you and your vehicle.

Climate considerations

In Lewiston, Maine, the climate plays a critical role in determining your RV storage needs. The highs in summer average around 80°F, a temperature conducive to outdoor storage. A protective cover can shield your travel trailer, pop-up camper, motorhome, or fifth wheel from the sun's harmful rays, keeping the exterior finish from fading or cracking.

However, winters can be harsh, with lows averaging around 13°F. Such cold temperatures could result in frozen pipes or other damage. Therefore, an indoor storage solution is highly recommended for winter, offering your vehicle protection from the elements. By understanding these seasonal variations, you can ensure your recreational vehicle remains safe and well-maintained all year round.
