30 x 20 Unpaved Lot in Villa Rica, Georgia

Verified Review

"Excellent storage area and host. Brad was available every time I had to pick-up and drop-off my trailer and was quick to respond to messages. The location is far enough from the main road to be safe and secluded while not being a burden to get to, and there are two locked gates between the road and the lot. Brad was nice enough to mow the grass where I was putting my trailer and allowed me to bring some pavers to keep the tires out of the dirt. Would highly recommend this space as there is a lot of room even for a very large trailer/RV/camper."

Types of RV storage

In the charming city of Anniston, Alabama, plenty of people own all sorts of RVs, from sleek motorhomes to cozy pop-up campers. After all, the spirit of adventure is alive and well here. But when the trip is over and it's time to park the RV, a question arises - where to store it? An excellent option to consider is renting an outdoor storage unit, conveniently located within the city.

You can choose from three main categories of storage options for your RV:

  • Outdoor RV storage: This is the most common type of storage, with spaces typically found in residential backyards, driveways or spacious fields. Offering simplicity and ease of access, outdoor storage provides an ideal solution for those looking to store their travel trailers within the familiar surroundings of Anniston. While it does expose your RV to the elements, a top-quality RV cover can make outdoor storage a suitable choice.
  • Covered RV storage: For a bit more protection from Alabama’s sun and rain, consider covered RV storage. This type of storage can be found on properties with large carports, awnings, or other types of overhead coverings. While the sides of the vehicle may still be exposed, this option offers a layer of protection against the most damaging weather effects, which can prolong the lifespan of your camper and maintain its resale value.
  • Indoor RV storage: If you really want to protect your motorhome from the elements, indoors is the way to go. Indoor storage options may not be as readily available as outdoor or covered alternatives, but they offer the highest level of protection. These spaces can be found in places like large residential garages or warehouses, providing the perfect shield from even the harsh winter weather.

Each of these options has its own unique benefits, and ultimately, the best choice will depend upon your specific needs, the type of your RV, and the conditions you aim to protect it against.

Choosing outdoor RV storage

When searching for the ideal outdoor storage location for your RV in Anniston, Alabama, there are a variety of factors to keep in mind. A suitable space for your motorhome, camper or travel trailer should meet your size requirements, offer convenient access, and be located in a safe and accessible area.

  • Safe Location: The safety of your RV should always be a priority. Consider the security measures at the storage location. Is it in a well-lit, reputable area of town? Do residents or property owners live on or near the premises, adding to the security? Your camper deserves a secure home away from home.
  • Storage Space Size: The size of your travel trailer, fifth wheel, or motorhome will influence the size of the storage unit you need. Be sure to account for the length, width, and height of your RV to ensure the storage space is ample enough. Leave additional room for easy maneuvering and potential storage of extra camping gear or RV accessories.
  • Convenient Access: Access to the storage site is another important factor. Check the hours of access - are they compatible with your schedule? Can you access your motorhome or camper on weekends and holidays? Ensure the storage location can accommodate your access needs and offers easy, unobstructed ingress and egress to minimize the risk of damaging your RV or travel trailer.

Climate considerations

In Anniston, Alabama, the climate varies significantly throughout the year, impacting your choice of outdoor storage for your recreational vehicle. Average high temperatures in the peak summer months reach about 91°F, whereas in winter, lows can dip to around 33°F. Under such conditions, your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome will need adequate protection against intense heat and potential freezing. It's recommended to invest in a high-quality protective cover that can shield your vehicle from the harsh sun in summer and icy conditions in winter. These covers help maintain the integrity of your vehicle's exterior, preventing damage and degradation. Remember that while outdoor storage is a great solution, it's crucial to take necessary protective measures to ensure your recreational vehicle's longevity.
