"Excellent storage area and host. Brad was available every time I had to pick-up and drop-off my trailer and was quick to respond to messages. The location is far enough from the main road to be safe and secluded while not being a burden to get to, and there are two locked gates between the road and the lot. Brad was nice enough to mow the grass where I was putting my trailer and allowed me to bring some pavers to keep the tires out of the dirt. Would highly recommend this space as there is a lot of room even for a very large trailer/RV/camper."

Types of RV storage

Deciding where to store your RV, travel trailer, or motorhome in Douglasville can be a daunting task. With options ranging from outdoor to indoor residential storage, there's a perfect fit for every vehicle type.

  • Outdoor RV storage: This is often the most cost-effective and readily available option for storing your recreational vehicles. It involves parking your RV, motorhome, or travel trailer on a residential property, such as a driveway, side yard, or empty lot. Outdoor storage provides ample space for larger RVs and offers convenience as these spaces are often closer to home.
  • Covered RV storage: Covered storage options usually come in the form of carports or canopies on a residential property. Travel trailers, campers, and motorhomes stored under a cover receive added protection from the elements like sun, rain, and hail. It's an excellent step up from outdoor storage for those in Douglasville who want to keep their RVs in great shape.
  • Indoor RV storage: Indoor storage offers the highest level of protection for your vehicle. This could be a residential garage, a large barn, or even a warehouse with enough space to house your camper, travel trailer, or motorhome. While it may come at a higher cost, indoor storage ensures your RV remains in pristine condition, sheltered from the harsh Georgia weather.

Remember, the ideal storage option for you largely depends on the size of your RV, the level of protection you desire, and the convenience you require. The good news is that a variety of residential storage options are available right here in Douglasville.

Choosing outdoor RV storage

Choosing the right outdoor storage for your camper, travel trailer, or motorhome is an integral part of preserving the condition and lifespan of your vehicle. However, selecting the optimal space involves balancing several factors, including the unit size, access, and location.

  • Space Dimensions: The size of the storage space is crucial. It must comfortably accommodate the width and length of your vehicle, be it a pop-up camper or a fifth wheel. Consider the room required to navigate around the vehicle without causing any damage. It may also be beneficial to have extra space for any other travel gear or equipment associated with your motorhome.
  • Access Considerations: The access to your storage space can make a significant difference to the ease of storing and retrieving your RV. This means considering factors such as the hours during which the area is accessible, the ease of entry and exit, and whether or not the location can accommodate the size of your vehicle.
  • Location Parameters: The proximity of the storage space to your home in Douglasville, Georgia, should be considered. A convenient location can save you time and fuel costs when you need to use or check your vehicle. Additionally, the safety of the neighborhood, the presence of security measures, and the general condition of the surrounding area should be factored into your selection process.

Climate considerations

Climate considerations are pivotal when choosing outdoor storage for your RV, camper, or motorhome in Douglasville, Georgia. This city experiences humid summers with average high temperatures peaking at around 90°F in July. Exposure to these temperatures for prolonged periods can lead to wear and tear on your RV’s exterior and interior. To protect your vehicle in such conditions, consider using RV-specific protective covers that shield against heat and sun damage.

On the flip side, Douglasville's winters are mild and wet, with January lows averaging at around 33°F. Such conditions may lead to frost damage or issues with moisture seepage. It's essential that your travel trailer or camper is appropriately winterized and covered to prevent potential damage. Good quality weather-resistant covers can safeguard your vehicle against frost, rain and other harsh winter elements.
