Every Neighbor host is ID-verified and backed by up to $1M in liability coverage. For extra protection, renters can also opt into a Property Protection Plan at checkout. We also encourage renters to use their best judgment when booking and visiting a space. Read reviews, check host ratings, and look for spaces that are gated, security camera-monitored, and located in lower-crime Sunset neighborhoods.

Monthly rates will depend on the size of the space, the amenities offered (e.g., EV charging, trickle charging, assigned parking, security camera monitoring, on-site staff, gated entry), and the level of coverage: outdoor, covered, or fully enclosed/indoor. Car storage near Sunset starts at $150, with prices averaging around $150. On Neighbor, you never have to worry about expensive long-term contracts or hidden fees. Filter spaces in Sunset by clicking on the “Price” tab at the top of the page and toggling the bar to your desired price maximum. Price increases are rare, but you will be given advanced notice if your host decides to increase their monthly rate.

That will depend on the length, width, and height of your vehicle! A standard parking space is about 9’x20’. If your car fits comfortably in a standard parking space, keep these dimensions in mind, especially if you plan to rent a storage unit or a residential parking space (e.g., a driveway, an unpaved lot, or a residential garage).

For oversized fleet vehicles, such as delivery vans, look for spaces that are at least 10’x30’. (Note: certain height restrictions may prevent you from parking your oversized vehicles in a parking garage or storage unit)

For insight into the space size recommended for your specific vehicle type, consult Neighbor’s Storage Unit Size Guide. To filter spaces by size, use Neighbor’s advanced length and width filters.

No matter your situation, rest assured that your rented space is yours for the entire month. Come and go as needed, knowing that you have a guaranteed space available at your convenience. On Neighbor, payment is hassle-free! Just create a Neighbor account and connect your preferred payment method (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards are all accepted). Once you’ve removed your items and cancelled online, automatic payments will stop.

When you find the right space, click "Reserve space" to submit your request. You'll be prompted to enter what you're storing, a preferred start date, and your payment information.

Best practices depend on the time of year and the city you’re storing your car in! If temperatures dip below freezing where you live, check out: Winterizing your car and Preparing your car for winter storage.

Regardless of the weather/time of year, it’s recommended that you change your oil, fill up your gas tank, and connect your car to a trickle charger before storing your vehicle. If the fuel in your gas tank is expected to sit unused for more than 30 days, we also recommend investing in a fuel stabilizer.
